Learn Taekwondo

Storm Taekwondo is a great studio for those new to martial arts. Our taekwondo instructors make learning fun by enthusiastically engaging students while drawing out the appropriate level of effort. By challenging the students properly, we maximize the students progress and self confidence. Our taekwondo instructors are truly incredble with all ages, from preschool to senior citizens. Competitive Taekwondo

Storm Taekwondo's competition team follows World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) rules and guidelines. We train serious practitioners of the art who intend on competing at state and national levels and wish to persue Olympic opportunities. If you want to take your taekwondo to the highest levels of competition, please stop in and speak with Coach Shane Merem. Opportunities on the Storm Taekwondo Competition Team must be earned and we will guide you toward that goal.

Self Defense Classes

If you're looking for real-world self defense classes in south east Michigan, Storm Taekwondo is where you go. We teach practical self defense techniques to girls, boys, teens, adults and senior citizens.

OUR WINNING PHILOSPHY

Storm Taekwondo Training Center teaches a combination of Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Kung-Fu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Grappling. It is a complete, well-rounded system that utilizes a combination of techniques, including striking and grappling, to formulate the ultimate self defense system.

Tae Kwon Do - This is the main style of our school. Tae Kwon Do is an Olympic Sport, and provides the world's best kicking techniques and footwork.

Karate - Karate provides strong fundamental blocking and upper body striking techniques. What is Karate? Karate is actually a Japanese martial art that emphasizes and develops defensive and counterattacking techniques and moves. Karate not only trains in self defense and fighting, it's overall emphasis is discipline and persistance, as well as mental and moral development. In Karate, you learn the mantra of Gichin Funakoshi, which is "You never attack first in karate." Gichin Funakoshi is the considered the father of modern karate, he is from Okinawa, Japan and is the one who formalized karate to Japan in 1922.

Kickboxing - Kickboxing provides effective hand, knee, elbow, and foot self defense techniques.

The programs at Storm Taekwondo include the most exciting and beneficial aspects of the Martial Arts. No two classes are exactly alike. You will learn a variety of skills and drills that make training fun, exciting, challenging, but not overwhelming. The Storm training curriculum is in compliance with, and exceeds, the requirements for the World Taekwondo Federation and is recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
